Surely you are under the impression that there is much more you could be doing for your teeth. This is important, as we use our teeth on a very regular basis. Even a tiny amount of blood while brushing your teeth, should be cause for concern and a visit to the dentist should be made. Gum disease is often indicated by bleeding gums. If you experience bleeding gums, make an appointment to come and see us. Gum disease builds vulnerability to bone loss, tooth loss, infections and diabetes.
Toothbrush holders are a great way to keep your toothbrush sanitary. Don’t store a toothbrush inside any container, either. As soon as your toothbrush begins to show signs of wear, replace it promptly.
Some medications can be responsible for bad breath and dry mouth. Discuss your symptoms with us and see if your medications are causing your bad breath. If so, you may be able to switch medications. If not, treatment is available to correct dry mouth issues, and your dentist can advise you of one.
Visit us two times yearly or more often, as needed. The single most effective way to protect your mouth is to receive consistent, adequate dental care. Going more often can also help you feel more comfortable. Establishing a good relation is important if any serious work will need to be done.

Rinse your mouth with a natural mouthwash that does not contain alcohol. These mouthwashes help immensely with bad breath. Alcoholic mouthwashes give you nice breath, but can be drying. Dry mouth is responsible for bad breath in many cases.
Don’t rush brushing. While brushing may be a familiar routine to you, it’s still important not to rush quickly through it. Don’t do that. Take your time when brushing your teeth. Don’t go through it mindlessly. Be thorough with your brushing and make sure it’s a full minute.
